Indigo Mercy

I broke the sun’s seam, watched myself sieve
The sky from the sea, an indigo mercy.

I might have deserted them,
There on the black veil,
Of silence and pain, swirled in rain.

For their horizon was curved in white,
The chill of vague, a mist in sight.

But I didn’t dare, couldn’t bear
To leach our core spirit out of
The profound blue, the sorrow of us.

Burst the sun figments, bred the dark,
But no, I didn’t let it devour it all.

So the sea wafted away from the sky,
I watched myself head the divide
As they parted to flee, an indigo mercy.
