The Dreams

I ventured into lands unknown
Weaving some dreams of gold
I believed its light shone
In the darkest paths of lone

I entwined the thin threads
Not leaving a strand astray
But I tore my life to shreds
Leading me to lie and betray

I played a game with fire
Won dark smouldering holes
I had ashen threads to rewire
Into a shadow of golden souls

In the end I awaited the light to linger
On my golden sheets in beams
Angst- ridden, I pricked all my fingers
For I had woven some dimmed dreams.
